WHY Urology Medical Travel IS RIGHT FOR YOU, RIGHT NOW

Urology is a medical specialty that focuses on the medical and surgical treatment of disorders and diseases of the female urinary tract and the male urogenital system. It involves diagnosis, endoscopy, surgery and lithotripsy.

Some of the common procedures that fall under urology include:

  • Testicular and Prostate Biopsy

  • Prostate Disease / Prostate Cancer Treatment

  • Partial / Full Prostatectomy

  • Bladder Dysfunction

  • Vasectomy and Vasectomy Reversal

  • Partial or Full Nephrectomy (Kidney Removal)

  • Penile Prosthesis / Implant

  • Urinary Incontinence

Because most medical conditions that fall under the scope of urology are typically non-emergency, the level of urgency is less and therefore priority to treat is not as high.  In addition, the number of urologists in Canada is low in comparison with the number of Canadians requiring treatment, resulting in an average 16.2 week wait between seeing their GP and getting treatment.

The kidneys, bladder, ureters, and urethra are part of the urinary system.  The adrenal glands are closely associated with the urinary system.

Most of these procedures are minimally invasive and are performed laparoscopically, making them a suitable procedure when considering traveling out of country to have the procedure done. Wait time to see a urologist is a fraction of the time compared to wait times in Canada.  Assessment, diagnosis and treatment may be able to happen in just one visit, depending on the condition that the client has been diagnosed with.
